11 days post hysterectomy: Infection?
I am 11 days post op today. The day before yesterday the steri strips came off of my mini laparotomy incision. My incision separated a bit the night before last. Since then I have had a red welt about the diameter of a coffee cup, form above the incision. The itching is insane. I have been running about a 99.6 - 100.0 temp. It doesn't have any drainage except some cottage cheese looking stuff on and around it. No odor. I'm not sure if that could be an infection or not. I'm not allergic to adhesive and the other 3 incisions are looking great. Any ideas?
Thanks. Stacy

Re: Infection?
I think you should either call your doctor or head over to the Emergency Room. I could very well be an infection brewing and if it is you want to get in antibiotics as soon as possible.

Re: Infection?
With those symptoms I'd call the doctor's office in the morning and talk to the nurse. She'll know if you need to be seen or not. If your temp spikes in the night, call right away.

I agree, take no chances, and call the doctor in the am.
You temp is about what my ran the first week or two with no infection.
But call and be on the safe side.
