I am on Day 32 Post TAH BSO, is it okay to sleep on my stomach

I have been sleeping on my side. Does sleeping on tummy make "swelly belly" worse and increase recovery time?

I really don't think it matters how you sleep. I am 23 days post op TAH/LSO and have been sleeping on my stomach for 1.5wk now. I think you should do what is most comfortable for you. Swelly belly, at least for me, comes on toward the end of the day, and is worse with activity. It will not, however, affect your recovery. It just happens.

I actually sleep on my back and I have yet to experience the "swelly belly". As a matter of fact, I lost 13 lbs since my TAH/BSO on January 6th and my tummy looks flatter. My clothes fit better as well. I haven't tried laying on my stomach because it's not a comfortable position for me. I seem to be experiencing the opposite of what's most common though even though I am also on estrogen which they say is supposed to make me gain weight , but it's not. It may be because I literally have had to make a dramatic change to my diet. I am only now only allowed 2000 mg of sodium because of hypertension and I automatically have no choice but to eat less and get rid of salty foods. That may be what's contributing to the weight loss. I don't think there's any harm in you laying on your belly, but you better check with your doctor first just in case.
