Re: recovering

Hi Libby,

I didn't have a numb stomach but did have the swelling for 4 weeks, then it got progressively better. Now at 6weeks it is so much better. I had a da Vinci assisted surgery so I don't know if that makes a difference.

Hang in there, I know it is hard to deal with. I wasn't expecting the swelling to last so long.

Re: recovering

Hi Libby - there are loads of articles on the site about what to expect re the numbness and swelling (I guess a moderator will be able to come along and give you a link) - but I am 5 weeks post TAH/BSO and still numb and swollen. My tummy looks about 3 months pregnant in the morning and 8 months in the evening so I can't wear the same trousers all day :-( I understand it can last for months.

As far as numbness goes, I had a salpingectomy for an ectopic pregnancy with a 4" abdominal incision in 2005 and the scar was always numb about 1/2" below and 2" above (that's in inches - not sure what measure you use in the USA!)

Hope that helps - do rest lots and log on every day... this site has answered all my questions, solved my problems and eased my worries about my surgery. Absolutely wonderful.
