Endometrial biopsy

Tommorow I am going for my Endometrial biopsy and my ultrasound at the gyno's. I am a little nervous I heard that you can get some pretty bad cramps and I am not allowed to take anything but tylenol because of my stomach. Anyone had this and would care to share how bad it is.

Endo Biopsy

Hi Kit,

I think it really depends on your pain tolerance. When I had mine, the doctor told me that some people tolerate it well and others have a lot of pain. Mine didn't go so well. The pain was mostly during the procedure, but afterward it wasn't bad at all. I hope it goes well for you. Can you take some Tylenol before you go in? I'll be sending good wishes your way!

Endometrial biopsy

It can also depend on the doctor. Years ago, I had one done and it caused some brief cramping when the doctor did the actual procedure. When I had one done a few years later, it was no more uncomfortable than when they do a pap test.

Endometrial biopsy

I had strong cramping during the procedure, which lasts no more than one and a half minutes. I had like mild menstrual cramping the rest of the day. I probably could have gone to work but I stayed home to pamper myself. A heating pad worked wonderfully with ibuprofen and hot tea. I had heavier bleeding than most people after (a lot). Not sure why but I think it worked on me like a D&C. I had put off the biopsy for 5 months because I was scared. Not smart!! Turns out my biopsy was not so good. If I had known the procedure was just strong cramps, I would not have hesitated, my cancer would have been found earlier and my surgery would be behind me instead of next week. Just stay focused on something else in the room and realize it is very brief and something you must get through to look after yourself. Again, whatever discomfort you have is very brief and after its over you'll realize that it's something you could do again without hesitation. Best of luck with your tests. I'll be thinking about you tomorrow and wishing you good things.

Endometrial biopsy

Had mine recently, get the results this Friday. ((fingers crossed)) All of my cramps were during the procedure. My DR was great, he talked me all the way through it 'You'll feel pressure and now some cramping and a little bit more'. Of course if you are close to your period it might set it off which he told me too, and darn if he wasn't right about that too. He told me to take two ibuprofen an hour before and it would alleviate some of the pain.

It was like cramps with a little bite, I was able to do some breathing that helped me not get too tense. Whew. It is over quickly.

Endometrial biopsy

I also had an endo biopsy. I was told to take 3 ibuprofen 2 hours before the procedure. I had a lot of cramping and felt a couple of "pinches", but overall it was not that bad. ( Did have some major bleeding afterword, but was told that that was not normal) I made it out in my head a lot worse than it really ended up being. Take deep breaths, kinda like lamaze, and that seems to help. Take care, you will get through it just fine!!!

Endometrial biopsy

Hi,

I had two endometrial biopsies (back when I still had a uterus.) They're not that bad, really. I had my second one during my lunch break then drove back to work and finished out the day.

I will tell you a little trick though that I recently learned when I had a colposcopy and biopsy two weeks ago. Ask your doctor to tell you when he gets ready to take the biopsy, then cough right at that moment. You won't feel a thing!

s,

Lisa
