5 weeks post hysterectomy - not getting anywhere.

yesterday I reached my 5th week post op and I'm still struggling.

I've had two infections (one internal, one external) and I'm really emotional and depressed.

I am on HRT as I've had everything removed and have been taking it as prescribed.

I don't feel like I'm getting any better - I'm in pain most of the time (either back ache or what feels like pulling in my stomach). I still look pregnant and just see no light at the end of the tunnel.

I go to bed when I feel tired at night but then lie there for hours as I can't sleep. I wake a number of times in the night and keep having hot flushes - so bad that in soaking the sheets when I wake.

I'm at my wits end and don't know what to do. If I talke to the hub, I feel like I'm moaning. The kids look at me and see I'm "ok" and don't understand why I'm not doing housework (some days I'm not even dressed). I'm in pain when I go out and I don't even know what to do about returning to work. I just don't want to go!

What's wrong with me?! What do I do and how can I get better?

Re: 5 weeks post hysterectomy - not getting anywhere.

I am sorry you are struggling.
Although I had no pain after the first 3 days I continued to have some pulling sensations intermittently.
Because I have depression I started walking daily after surgery to help with general wellbeing and mood stabilization. The daily walks really helped me to get stronger and feel better. I get the feeling of not wanting to get out of bed.
I went back to work after 6 weeks and had a somewhat rough transition.
I I would think that having infections will perhaps set you back a bit in total.

My sleep is not that great either, I have no ovaries and can not take HRT - what I did was to take one of the fans I have and put it right in front of my bed on the lowest setting. It really helps for nights! I just leave it on the whole night.

I hope you get better soon!
