swelly belly 7 weeks post op davinci assisted vaginal hyster

I went out a bought 4 pairs of hip-hugger sweat pants - to accommodate the swelly belly (mine not really that big) and to avoid bothering my waist-high incisions. It was a great solution and....I feel like a 70 years old teenager.

Thanks for posting about this. At least I don't feel alone. I had a LAVH 7 weeks ago, and my belly is still swelly.

I know it's from the surgery and not just fat as my tummy was pretty darn flat before surgery. I have swelling from just above the navel all the way down. I look like a bloaty tick.

I hate being all poochy, and I still experience abdominal cramps if I walk too much. It's frustrating because I want to get back to exercising, and I'm just not able to do so without feeling crummy.

When will I get my nice flat tummy back?!

I had a SAH 6 weeks ago and my tummy is still swollen and sore too. I understand that recovery is a process, but what bothers me is that when I suck in my tummy, I can feel the muscles sucking in, but my stomach just sits there. It's like the connective tissue between my flesh and my muscles was severed during surgery (which my surgeon did deny when I asked --- he said to just wait it out).

Does anyone else sense a disconnection between their swelly belly and their abdominal muscles? I hope I'm worried over nothing.

7 weeks post op TAH and still have swelly belly. My pants are tight and had to buy a couple of pairs one size up. Not sure if this is due to swelling or my incision, which created "the ledge" as my doctor calls it. I had a pretty flat belly going in so am finding this a little distressful!

I wonder if it's okay to do some yoga or something to smooth things down. Is it too early to do some exercises at months post op. I have the swelly belly and I am tired of wearing the big shirts.

Funny timing evelina - I just got back from my first yoga class since surgery. In fact, I hadn't been to yoga since before my back surgery in April 2009, and I've really been missing it. I checked with my doctor first, of course, and he gave me the OK. I've actually been trying to go for walks lately and have found them to cause cramping. Strangely (and happily), I feel fantastic after yoga (and it was a fairly vigorous class). Ask your doctor and see what he/she says.

I think I have a bladder infection it still hurts when I use the bathroom. I don't think it's a uti but it has to be some infection. I have to go into the Dr. anyways. I'll her then. Thanks for the info on the yoga.
