People keep asking why I still have pain

People keep on saying to me that I should be better by now. That it should be like a C section and its not normal to have so much pain. I'm getting so annoyed. I just had the hysterectomy almost 4 weeks ago and I have been fighting bronchitis on top of it. I think its normal to have some pain. I was getting comments like that a week after I had it done.

Re: People keep asking why I still have pain

People are so insensitive. I had 2 c-sections and certainly the first one was much harder on me than the second, but THIS is totally different. Even though they went in through the same incision, the surgery itself is much different. When my daughters were born, they put everything back after removing the baby...this time they removed organs...it's NOT the same thing. I'm sorry you have to hear ignorant comments from people who clearly have NO CLUE what you've actually been through.

I'm sorry! Some people are just clueless! This is a major surgery that takes a long time to heal from! Hang in there and rest as much as you need, listen to your body

Agreed. I'm 13 wks out still w pain. I also had a c section and a forceps birth-- they were a walk in the park compared to this experience!

Re: People keep asking why I still have pain

OH my goodness, no they don't understand everything that has been done to you and how long it actually takes to recover and be pain free. I had 4 previous c sections and this surgery doesn't touch that by any stretch of the imagination. You not only have an incision in your abs but also lots of cutting and stitches inside and that takes longer to heal,,,, it is always moist. Some people have no compassion.....they should be thankful they have not had to have this surgery.

((hugs))

Re: People keep asking why I still have pain

Don't you just wish you could press a pause button and make people think for 30 seconds before they speak? Oh well!! Lol... My 3rd and 4th weeks were the hardest..Once I got through those it was all great from there..hang in and remember "some people say the stupidest things" hugss

Re: People keep asking why I still have pain

Yeah, I got those comments too...from my best friend, of all people. She kept comparing my recovery to her c-sections. Whatever.
Koalbish, I would think between coughing, your immune system fighting a bug, and caring for children, that it's probably very normal to still have pain because you may be healing a little slower. Sending you healing thoughts!!

Re: People keep asking why I still have pain

I knew you guys would understand. I wish I had a comparison chart to show people the difference between C section and hysterectomy.

I actually had a "friend" who called me the night I was in the hospital asking if her kids can come over. I was so high on morphine at the time and I told her I was in the hosp. She asked me if her kids can come the next day!
