Pre-op today

My Pre-op and EKG are today at 1:45, and only 6 days left till hyster. It's getting close! I think I have my bag nearly packed, minus my phone & iPod chargers. Going to finish up meal prep this weekend. Cleaned most of the house this weekend and almost have the laundry caught up. Also got the bedroom ready. Cleaned off my bedside table and have a recliner right next to the window and near the bed for when I get tired of being in bed. Need to figure out which movies I may want to watch that first week so I can put those where I can reach them. Think I'll give the dogs and cat a bath Friday. Oh dear, what am I forgetting????

Re: Pre-op today

I too have my pre-op EKG and chest x-ray today too @ 2:15 with GP. Tomorrow, PAT at hospital 8:00 and 10:00 consult with OB/GYN.

I bought some of those ensure type drinks just in case I don't want to mess with food. One good thing I read to take to hospital is ear plugs because of all the hospital noise. Don't forget your tummy pillow.

I don't think my house has ever been cleaner - LOL.

We are getting closer = )

Re: Pre-op today

I agree with slickuennen, don't foget the ear plugs! I brought my own but was delighted when the nurse offered me some along with a sleeping pill the 2nd night- definitely helped me sleep!

Re: Pre-op today

I have my pillow ready and told DH to make sure I don't forget it. Think I'll ask dr what kind of room I'll be in. I hate having something in my ears. I do have one of those eye cover things, though. Need to throw that in the bag. Have the ensure added to the grocery prep list along with different soups I can make ahead. Any suggestions on freezing some foods in smaller/single serve sizes? I know there are some times I'll be by myself and don't want to have to get an entire dish out to have something for myself.

Pre-op today

Perhaps you can cook a few pots full of spaghetti, penne pasta, and shells. Then make two or three sauces (marinara with meat, Alfredo, green pesto sauce) and stir fry or steam some veggies and bake some chicken. Create various single serving dishes of pastas with veggies and meat and different sauces and feeze em'. Pasta feezes really well. We eat lots of salmon, chicken, and brown rice so I'll be freezin' some healthy mesls but my husband is perfectly capable and eager to handle cookin' for me for a while.

Remember to pack some chapstick and a hairtie/band. A step stool and grabber to have at home may help. My bed is high and the stool will help. Blessings to you.

God, family, Country, Football, Yeehaw!

Re: Pre-op today

Thanks 05Knights! Great ideas!! I wasn't sure about how well pasta would freeze, but that all sounds yummy!

Abby, I'm hoping mine doesn't go to long either. I have to go to work later, also. When's your surgery?

Re: Pre-op today

The Ronzoni Smart Taste pasta holds up great to freezing and leftover. It does not get mushy like the standard pastas. And, its supposed to be better for you! = )
