Emotional wellness after hysterectomy

I had a hysterectomy in June 2015. Both ovaries were left. Before the surgery, I suffered for years from depression, mood swings, anxiety, you name it. I (It) was not pleasant. I have been through therapy, tried many different medications and combinations of medications to combat this. Since the surgery, after the initial healing, of course, I have felt happier and more relaxed than I have felt in years. And my sex drive has increased to levels I haven't seen since I was in High School. I'm not complaining, at all. Anyone else experience this?

Thank you for sharing this! I think it's a little too early to tell for me, but I am hopeful that I feel as well as you do when all is said and done. Already, I feel more energy for being out in the world and experiencing new things, whereas before the surgery, I was most happy staying home with the TV on.

I have noticed a libido surge but I can't act on it yet lmao. I figured it was just my hormones acting up

I noticed a surge about 4.5 weeks post op. I struggled with waiting until that 6 week post op check, but reluctantly listened and was a good girl. Figured the surge would fade. So far, it hasn't. I'm good with this unexpected "gift." Lol
