Driving Miss Daisy

Hmmm, hope I made the right decision about this.
My DH has a job interview about 450 miles away in Santa Fe, (we're in Tucson) in about 10 days and after looking at airfares, car rentals and travel times, decided to drive the 7-8 hours instead. He is legally blind so I do all the driving. I'll be just over 7 weeks post op at that point.

We plan to stop about halfway for the night, so I wouldn't be more than 4 hours on the road at a time. (actually probably do 3 and 5). Plan on stopping as needed to eat or just stretch, sightsee, whatever, to break it up.

We'll be in Santa Fe for 3 nights before heading back, so hopefully will feel rested again.

Anyone else drive a long stretch post op? How did it feel?

Driving Miss Daisy

2 1/2 weeks post op, I went to my mother's for Thanksgiving. It's about a 2 1/2 hour drive.

At six weeks post op, I did the drive there and back (5 hours) in the same day. Wasn't too bad.

At seven weeks, I think you'll be just fine. My little pillow that I used for sneezing, coughing, laughing, and just about everything else, worked very well cushioning me from the seat belt and then helping with the soreness in my back from driving too long.

Drive safe!!
