Hello Everyone !!

I cannot begin to describe how wonderful it was to find this site. There is more information on this website than I have found combined on the web.

The fact that all the ladies are so honest is great!!

I am scheduled for a TAH/BSO on December 13. My doctor thinks that we will be able to save my right ovary and part of my left. Good news since I really am not prepared at this time in my life to go through a hormonal nightmare. It seems I have been on that roller coaster for long enough with the constant hormone therapy to try and stop the bleeding. I have spent the last three years with DUB, unaffected by hormones (which tended to make it worse), have had 2 D&C's, uterine biopsies, the works. All this and still constant bleeding. Always in pain.

I am so nervous about the surgery. Thank goodness for all the information you have provided. I am a very physically active person and am worried about getting bored and doing too much. I am definitely not comfortable to lay around and have people wait on me. I wonder if my view of the world will change after the operation????

Thanks for listening, and thanks for all the welcome support this group offers!!!

Hi Michelle!

You sound like a number of ladies here...me included. One of the most difficult parts of recovery was the 'idle' time. I really struggle with being dependent when I don't want to be and being quiet, when I feel I should be running a marathon - really. I will tell you that my own experience is....take it easy....you will feel pretty darn good and wham! you have overdone it! You probably don't want any setbacks so listen to the sisters and accept that you need this time to heal.

I don't know if it would help to plan some quiet activities for your recovery period. I found that I had little patience or attention to do much, but still felt frustrated with doing nothing. Taking short walks was about the most that I could do and didn't require much thought! Arghhhh! On the brighter side, if you take care of yourself, you do get a little better each day and hopefully will be back to a more 'normal' life quickly. You can always visit the hyster sisters - this is an endless supply of material and support whenever you need it!

Well, all the best to you...you'll do great! s

Hugs and a big warm welcome. We love seeing new faces. Well you have not long to go now and I can assure you that once this is behind you, you will feel glad that you did it. Great news that you can keep at least one ovary. I am 11 weeks post and also managed to keep one, so far so good.
The ladies on this site are the best you will find, there is alot of love and support here and you are free to ask anything. Please also come and join us in the chat room. There you will get support and advice as well as alot of laughs and the occasional brownie.
Hugs Vicki
