Total Vag Hys - went very well

For anyone going in for a Vaginal hysterectomy and removal of both ovaries... My surgery required absolutely no outside cuts. My doctor did everything through my vagina, with no need for a laprascope.
The surgery went very well and I am home now recovering. I have pain at about a 3 on a scale of 1-10, and am managing well on Motrin.
If anyone is going in for this kind of surgery, have no fear. I am 63, am having no significant pain, no fluctuating emotions (I'm on estrogen), no trouble sleeping and only seem to get tired quite easily.
My advice to you is INSIST on a complete and clear explanation from your doctor and others of everything that is going to be done to you, talk to the anesthetist and any nurses who are going to be in the surgery with you. Make your needs LOUD and CLEAR and DETAILED to everyone. They can't read your mind and often what you expect is the last thing they would think of. The more you know in advance, the less fear you will have going in. I've been very very lucky to have a wonderful doctor and great people who were involved with my Hys. I hope you have the same.
Cam (been there..done that..not bad...don't plan to do it again, though.)
