Re: For those who cannot participate in Christmas

As women I think it is simply our nature to want to do it all, and want to do it perfectly. I scheduled my surgery for 12/19 so our kids would be home to help me. I gave them a budget and had them order their own gifts online. (they are 16 and 13) I wrapped nothing. I put up a tabletop tree and nothing more. Their only surprise, their stocking stuff. My kids got up this morning giggling and filled with joy... happy with the shiny new trash cans for their bedrooms filled with new toothbrushes candy and other little offerings. They have done the morning dishes, vacuumed and peeled potatoes as my husband prepares the prime rib.
Friends have been by over for the past few days with food and shared a glass of wine and conversation as I sit here in a bathrobe and no makeup.
Here is the lesson I will carry as a result of this experience. Give other people the gift of being able to care for you... learn to graciously receive. Merry Christmas my fellow sisters <3

EXACTLY!

I feel ZERO guilt passing out cheques and one wrapped gift for Christmas to our dd's. I was just not up to shopping beforehand and I have not left the house since returning from the hospital. I don't feel compelled to do anything but rest/shower/walk the halls of my home and enjoy the company of my family... I have not lifted a finger. This is my recovery time and with having prolapse surgery the time is an investment in my future....

Re: For those who cannot participate in Christmas

I had my TAVH on the 21st and was released to go home the next day, Thursday. I spent Fri, Sat & most of Sun in bed. Sun afternoon I felt able to get a shower & venture to my In-laws 30 mins away. Even though I was only gone for 4 hrs, a toll was taken. I slept most of the night & lounged around my house while my family cooked our Christmas dinner & opened presents. Today, it was bed rest for me!!!

Don't push yourself! Stay in and relax, I would have done that Monday if my entire family hadn't come to my house. And trust me I was NOT allowed to lift a finger.
