Smokers

I've been a smoker for for at least 25 years. Planning on quitting the day of pre op. (the 6th). Any other princesses in waiting that are planning to quit before going into the castle?

That is wonderful! If you need any support, just give me a yell.
It's a tough thing to do, but we just have to make the decision and stick with it.
I'm quitting cold turkey.

I started on Zyban (which has helped me quit before) about 3 weeks ago. I was desperate....I am a closet smoker and I REALLY wanted to quit before my surgery....quit for good....finally!

I want to be healthy for this surgery and the recovery that it involves.

I would recommend quitting well before your surgery date, not just at pre-op. You will feel better if you are nicotine free well before your surgery date - trust me....I smoked right up til the night before a surgery once and the recovery was rough.

I think it is just better overall.

My pre op is a week before my surgery. I am starting to walk at night and get more excercise. Trying to cut back now but not doing very well. I would like to quit right now but am too jittery yet. I know I will be worse as it approaches...but at least I've picked a date!
I can't wait to just get checked in and wake up and have it all done.
