oestrogen dose post op after BSO ? anyone ?

HI, I have just had my TAH and BSO... I feel really good ten days post op.

I am 33 years old and on Estrederm matrix 50 patches, 1.50mg released at 50 microgrames a day. Who works out the dose, It was not explained. Personally I want the lowest healthiest dose as already eat soya in my diet.

Does anyone know what dose I should have for my age ?

Hi,

I don't think there is a set dose for one's age, but sometimes the younger you are when you have this surgery the more estrogen is needed.

The dr is familiar with the ages of his patients going through surgical menopause ,so he probably has experience on what would help you most when all hormones are stopped abruptly. It can be quite a shock to the body right after this surgery and dr wanted your body to not go through the extreme drop in estrogen right after. The symptoms can be extreme.

If you wish to have a lower dose, you need to discuss this with your dr. There are several doses that you might be able to switch to .

I started out on higher dose and later after a year dropped to a lower dose. As far as hormones go, everyone's needs are different and a lot of drs go by symptoms and will change it if a dose does not work for you. Sometimes it can take some adjustment during the first year trying to find what works the best.

I hope your hrt works well for you and you have no symptoms.

Wishing you a smooth recovery.
