Numbness or how long does it take for nerves to reconnect at incision

Hi! I am at 7 weeks, and the area around my incision is numb and feels different than than everywhere else. I remember having those sharp burning pains that I thought were nerves re-connecting. How long does it take for that numb feeling to go? Thanks!

Numbness or how long does it take for nerves to reconnect at incision

Hi Crystal!

Your question is a common one. Did you find these articles in the Post-Op Articles list?

Tummy Scar After Hysterectomy

Abdominal Numbness After Hysterectomy

For me, it took a couple of years for the numb feeling to completely go away. Normal sensations returned very gradually. At five years post-op, I have no numbness at all.

Hang in there!

Thanks for the links! I shall check them out! Does this mean one day I will be "normal"?!

I'm over 3 years post-op now and am still quite extensively numb, I'm afraid. Any improvement seemed to stop at around the 1 year mark. But it's really no biggie as I don't even think about it until I see a question like yours! Remember, though, that everyone heals differently.

Sending all good wishes!
