Daughter has a level 4 pap anyone know what this means?
HI all, I'm almost 6 weeks post op but figured here would be the place to post. My dd had an abnormal pap (she's had a few before). This time the dr. said it was a level 4, and did a biopsy, won't get the results for a few days. SHe read the report for the pap and saw something about carcinoma. SHe is so scared, she just suffered the loss of a son (stillborn) in May, has one dd who is 2. Does anyone know or have seen what the levels are for paps? I had a normal pap in sept., but dr. was convinced I had cancer, turned out to be prolapsed fibroid. (a whole nother story)

I found this site which explains PAP results with good, clear understanding. I hope it helps you both!

Daughter has a level 4 pap anyone know what this means?
I'm pretty sure the Pap test that I flunked years ago was also considered Class 4. I was scheduled within a couple of weeks for a procedure that did a laser-like removal of the cells. I remember it being unpleasant, but not really too bad. I was awake for it, with localized numbing, and it was done in the doctor's office. I had to have Pap tests every few months for a couple of years, then every six months, then back to yearly like normal women. I haven't had any problems since (well, with Pap tests at least - everything else is falling apart!) I'm fairly certain this is one of the early-detection categories and your DD's chances of having it completely taken care of are excellent.
As an added note, the one thing that I remember the most distinctly about the procedure is the male asking me how I was doing, about mid-way through. I told him I'd really rather be having a root canal. He said this was definitely easier than a root canal. The attending who must have been four-foot-nothing tall, drew herself up to full height, and with hands on her hips said to the doctor "How the hell would you know, you don't even HAVE a cervix!" I loved it!
I'd also worn a pair of neon-striped knee socks with individual toes (each a different color), each time I'd gone in for the tests prior to the procedure. When they'd asked if I wore them because I was cold, I told them I wanted to make sure they knew I was a real person, and not just another orofice.
