traveling question
hiyas,
my aunt and uncle keep asking me if I'd be able to go with my aunt to visit her son at camp a week after my surgery. it's I think a 2 or 3 hour drive. my question is for those whos had this surgery if I'll feel up to doing something like that that soon after. I wont be driving just going with her and visiting, looking around, going to a play they put on for the parents, and having lunch. I really think it's going to be to soon after. what do you think?
Hugs!

traveling question
Well, I had a TAH which is a little different recovery, BUT I can't imagine being able to do what you mentioned after only 1 week! Ask your Dr.- I'm pretty sure that is what he would say, too- but, who knows. And, no matter what anyone says, you'll have to see how you feel after surgery. You can't predict that beforehand. Good luck- and just remember don't overdo or rush your recovery- You only get to do it right once.

traveling question
MistyEyes,
I have not had surgery yet but I had one last December in an attempt to not need this one and I can tell you that there is no way I could have done it then. Even if your pain isn't that bad everyone that has had surgery all have one thing in common, they all say how tired they are.
Maybe someone that has had the kind of surgery you are going to have will know better than me but you can ask your dr. what he/she thinks.
Good luck and I hope someone can answer your questions,
k9

traveling question
I keep telling them I don't know we'll have to wait and see how I feel, and I think I'd be to tired to do it. I can't imagine doing something like that even now. I get so tired and not really a people person as it is. plus I'd have to stay the night over at there house so we can leave at 6am and I'm sure I'd wanna stay in my own bed nice and comfy.

traveling question
Misty Eyes,
I haven't had my surgery yet, but I had a smaller surgery last year, and even then I was really tired for weeks afterward. Just when you think you are feeling good, you can get up and start to move around and then wham! You are so tired you have to lie down. I tried going to the grocery store a week afterwards, and by the the time I got to the register I was ready to collapse. Fortunately, my mom & dad were with me, so I had support & they drove home.
I wouldn't recommend traveling anywhere so soon after your surgery. It's up to you, but I would hope your family would understand.
Hugs,
Leslie

traveling question
thanks leslie,
I dont think my family really understands even though they think they do. my mom had a hysterectomy and all she says is you'll be fine nothing to it. what I dont understand is my aunt about 10 years ago had one when she was 25 do to endo, she should know that I wouldnt be up to going so soon after surgery but her needs/wants come before mine and maybe sense she was younger she had more energy after, shes always had more energy than me anyway. heck I feel like most everyone in the world has more energy than I do. ok I gotta stop, talking about how tired I am is starting to make me cry.

Misty,
I'm so sorry to hear that you're going through this with your family. I really think they are asking too much of you, and I hope you can get them to understand your need to heal at your own pace. Hang in there, and try to rest in the meantime.
Hugs,
Leslie

traveling question
Hi Misty,
I would not recommend it. I had a laparoscopy on June 14 and then went along on an amusement park trip on June 23. The drive of 3-4 hours was not bad, but the rest of the day at the amusement park was exhausting. I could not even go on hardly any of the rides due to recent surgery and yet by the end of the day I wanted to collapse.
I strongly feel that after major surgery like this you should rest not travel.
