Think I need a new Dr.

Hello Ladies;
I am 3 weeks post op from a TVA, bladder sling and hemroidectomy. I saw this Gyn two times prior to surgery as another gyn did all of my tests. She was not doing surgery at this time and sent me to this guy. She said that he would do all of my care and that she had gone as far as she could with me. The gyn who did the surgery saw me at two weeks post op and pretty much said ok your done just get a yearly check up. I had been feeling pretty good but the past few days I have had a bad pain in my lower right side...just above the pelvic bone. I thought it was because I may of over done it by doing laundry. DH transported it to wash room for me. I have taken it very easy since the pain started but it has not let up. I am not bleeding nor do I have a fever. I called the gyn today and his nurse checked with him and told me to take ibufroen and if it keeps up maybe I should get checked. I told this gyn at my two week that I was very grouchy,he stated that he didnt have anything to do with that. I also mentioned to him at my appt that I could not sleep and again today to the nurse. Was told that was a GP problem. This guy has told me nothing. I asked at pre op what changes I could expect and he said none. If it wasnt for this site I would know nothing about restrictions...had to log on here to realize that my bowel problems really wernt a problem. I am worried that my ovaries may be in shock due to the no sleepin...night swets and hot flashes. Sorry about going on and on...Should I go back to this guy or my GP...will my GP be able to help if horemones are out of whack? I am confused. Any info would be great...Thank you all for such a wonderful site it has been alot more help to me than my gyn.

Think I need a new Dr.

My GP did give me a sleep aide(Sonata) to use. My OBGYN had told me to see her for one since I was having trouble sleeping. This was 2 weeks post op. Hey, my date was the same as yours! I only used two and boy was it nice to finally get some sleep. I have not used them since but my GP said I could use tylenol pm too if needed. Sleep is very important. I think your ovaries are in shock and I thought OBGYN usually dealt with the HRT if needed. If yours is not willing, nor sensitive then sounds like you do need a new one. But maybe your GP could give you something too...call and ask. You could try natural things too as long as there is no reason your dr. said you can not have HRT. My dr. does not want me having any for 6 months due to endo. I still have some really bad pains when I try to do things too so maybe your pain is nothing wrong just normal healing? Rest and see if that helps and if not see a dr!
Sending you comforting thoughts, take care of yourself.

Oh Sweetie,
I can only tell you what I would do if I was in your place. I would barrage ALL your doctors (the two GYNs) and my GP with my questions... and I would do this until I got some answers and until I got some relief. If the other GYN (or your GP) asked why you didn't ask the surgeon GYN... I would be honest with them and tell them what you have told us here. IMHO his behaviour has been totally unacceptable. You are asking valid questions, and deserve some consideration and some prompt valid answers. The GYN cashed your check right? I want to add that even if your questions were on the goofy side, that shouldn't matter ONE BIT, as long as it is something that is concerning you and that you want an answer for. Please don't think it is unreasonable to expect your doctor to provide you with customer service. This is why they are a doctor... and this is why you pay them. This is just my opinion. I hope that whatever you do, you are able to get some answers and some relief. Good luck to you and please keep us posted.

Think I need a new Dr.

Hi, Just Me.
I think some of what you are experiencing is normal, and some is nerves because you are scared and anxious. And an uncooperative medical person only adds to your anxiety.

It is a shame that you didn't have the information you needed before hand. I didn't get anything either. I agree, had it not been for this site, I would have really been having anxiety attacks.

I suspect that, based on what you said about the switch in doctors, that is has a lot to do with insurance and maybe the hospital that you went to. The insurance world seems to dictate so much of how we are cared for by the medical profession. And most of the time it is not for our good, even though we are the ones paying the premiums.

I suggest that you call your GP's office, ask to speak with his nurse. Have her call you back when she returns patient calls. Tell her your concern, and ask what she recommends. She will probably tell you to come in to see the GP so he/she can diagnos the specific problems and then refer you to a specialist. Even though my GP doesn't do GYN type exams, he still wants to know about my general well being and health.

Be up front with your GP and don't be afraid to say you are uncomfortable with the care you are getting. It is your body and you have to be proactive.

Good luck and God Bless.

Hugs,
Judy

Think I need a new Dr.

Hi Just Me

So sorry you are having trouble. It sure seems like you are not having your concerns addressed...and they are real! I would definitely find a new gyn. Did you like your previous one? Now that your surgeon has said he has helped all that he can, could you go back to her for your concerns?

Another option would be to see your primary doctor. If he can't address your trouble, he should refer you to someone who can. That's his job! Be sure to tell him of your recent experience, and that you want to see someone who will listen!

Sending best wishes...hoping you feel better soon.
