Something is poking me under my skin

Just below my incision on the right side I have had a sharp burning and poking sensation. I noticed today that there is a small hard thingy there just under my skin that reproduces the sensation if I touch it. Could it be an undissolved suture? Jeeze I hope they don't need to go in and get it. It is really close to the surface of my skin. Has anyone ever experienced this? My skin is not red, or swollen or draining. This is not new pain, just more noticable pain as the rest fades as I heal. Please tell me this will dissolve!
Thanks!

Something is poking me under my skin

In one of my incisions the internal sticthes (or I should say the ends of them) are actually extending outside of my incision. They are very stiff and thicker than what I thought they would be. From my other surgeries I had just what you are talking about and it can be quite painful. I had this checked with my previous surgeries and that is exactly what my doctor said it was and that in due time they will disolve. It did take some time. But please do check with your doctor as I can only speak from my own experences.

Something is poking me under my skin

I had similar when I had my tummy tuck the doc said it was the knots in the line of sutres some dissolved others finally came to a head like a pimple and the knot actually poked through the skin when this happened if they did not just rub off because they were dissolved underneath the doc just used a forceps to lift them up and trim them off for me.

Something is poking me under my skin

Hi Froggie, you will probably read this on our recovery post but I'll repeat it here anyway. I had my 6 week post-op today and asked the doc about the painful lump at the left end of my incision. She said that it is one of the areas where the stiches are anchored and the lump is an immune reaction to a foreign object (stitches). It may clear up on it's own but if it doesn't within 6 weeks I will need a lidocaine shot. Of course, I'm not sure if what you have is the same thing. You might want to call your DD office so they are aware of it in case it's something you need to watch.

Something is poking me under my skin

I had a Laparoscopic hysterectomy keeping my cervix and left ovary. The tiny incision on the right has a suture near the surface. It feels hard and lumpy. The left and belly button incisions are fine. Doc said it would dissolve and I can feel it getting smaller almost by the day even though an end is almost poking through, no problem. It did finally stop itching. I am just 4 weeks out today.

Thanks!

Hey~
Just back from 6 week post op check. It is a suture. It's from the tummy tuck and shouldn't dissolve for a while yet. If it gets more uncomfortable I suppose they would trim it after a tiny incision, or it could pop out of my skin.

Thanks for all of your responses ladies, I really appreciate them.
