Doing the Happy Dance

So after all the ultrasounds, blood work etc... the results are in. I have fibroids and a cyst. Now I spoke to my doctor today and she is not concerned about the fibroids and cyst, stating that by the size of them they should not be causing the bleeding I am having. OMG she is going to want to do something else besides surgery I am thinking. On the contrary she seems receptive to the idea that I WANT a total hysterectomy including my ovaries. She was respective of my reasoning about removal of my ovaries (my BFF of 27 years is fighting for her life because of ovarian cancer.. TAKE EM' NOW) Anyhow so I am looking at a February surgery date (because of finances) so in the meantime I will be doing the iron transfusions and hopefully no more blood transfusions (I had #2 last weekend) I KNOW I will feel so much better after the fact and wish I could do it NOW.. so I am doing a happy dance. So over the next few months I will be posting here and picking ya'lls brains about stuff. I would like to make friends here but really don't know how as I have never posted on message boards b4 now.

Thanks for the reply! Yeah I never thought I would be happy about being split from one side to the other but I think about how things will be AFTER my recovery. I will be able to go places and not worry about "accidents" or if there will be restroom facilities (that aren't skanky) available. I will be able to have underwear that isn't "used" within the first two months and I will be able to wear white pants etc.. I know that sounds petty but after all these years I think I deserve a little relief. My gynecologist is starting me on a stronger dose of the pill to curb the bleeding for now because the loestra 28 didnt do the job and I have had my "friend" since Oct 17th. Hopefully this will do the trick for awhile but my eyes are set on February not even the holidays, just get through them and into Feb..

I was happy, too, when my Dr. gave me three options and one was LSH. There was no looking back, once she said that I could have the LSH, who cared about the two other options.

I kept my cervix and ovaries.

For me, the pill was never an option....is wreaked havoc with my blood sugars......so.....surgery was such a welcomed solution.

I am two years post-op and can say that I made the best decision for my lifestyle. Not one single regret....well...other than not doing it sooner!

I had never been on the pill until about a month ago when the doc decided to try and use it to curb the blood loss until surgery. If I am bleeding then it defeats the purpose of the blood transfusions I have received and the iron transfusions I am getting. My eyes are focused towards Feb. Thanks for the reply and the good new that it was the best thing you did
