Doc says I am leakng FAT?!!

I a 9 days post op TAH.

Yesteday I met with my doctor for my post op follow up and explained that I had quite a bit of leaking. I have even taken my left over pads and used them to cover my incision.

He examined the site and said there was no leakage. (I failed to inform him that the major comes when I am sitting on the toilet).

He said that if there was some "yellowish" draining is was just leaking fat. I am a large woman and he removed a some abdominal tissue because of 2 previous c-section scars but is this really leaking fat? Sounds like BS to me.

I am dealing with an old-school doctor in a small town and resisted going to a larger city for my surgery but I don't think he could be this antiquated.

I never heard of leaking fat. Did you google it? Sounds bizarre. Is it coming from your incision?

The information your doctor shared with you is true and not antiquated at all. If you do not trust his opinion, you need a new doctor.

Incisions may substances and one does not have to be overweight for fat to leak out since everyone has a layer of fat under the skin which is different than the fat that makes up our weight.

I had some drainage from my incision for a while and I was told it was blood serum. That's exactly what mine was, when it dried it formed a scab. I never heard of an incision leaking fat. Learn something new I guess.
