Never Had Children

We have adopted 2 children and adoption is the best thing to ever happen to us. We are blessed beyond belief and I'm the luckiest mom in the world. Adoption is a great way to build a family.

You know, I'm so glad a friend recommended this site to me. I do feel better having heard from so many of you - who seem to each share a little bit more of what I feel. Thanks to all of you. I will deal with the sadness and I promise to try to focus on the truly wonderful things I have in my life. And I just bet I will need to post again as my date grows closer....

I was never able to have children, and many years ago I decided I did not need to feel hurt or sad when I saw other people with their kids; it's not as though they had the children that I was somehow "supposed" to have. Their having children really took nothing away from me, it wasn't in any way their fault that I could not have something that many people do have and may take for granted. When I see a family happy together, I just smile and enjoy the antics of the kids. I enjoy my friends' children, and I also enjoy it when they go home and I have my quiet home back to myself. Getting the hysterectomy sure puts an end to the possibility of bearing children yourself, but there are plenty of kids in the world that you can interact with and love, you just need to find those opportunities.
