straining/discharge/spotting picks up...
I'm sure this is normal, but what do you girls do?
I can feel that I'm FULLY and am ready to have a bm but it will require a little work and when I just tried I could feel *full body shiver* the discharge/spotting pour out a bit. So i gave up. So I'll hit the milk of magnesia again and let it all pour out. How long will I have to do it this way? Do you guys push and just let the bleed/discharge happen?
I'm tired of being afraid to poop!
Thank you for telling me how it is for you!

Re: straining/discharge/spotting picks up...
Some time ago a woman posted that she was losing weight because she was on the "too scared to poop diet" - LOL. I could totally relate and can relate to what you're describing too. I think it's wise to be cautious and not force the issue. It was better for me after about 3 wks.

Thank you Cathy! HAHAHAHAH The too scared to poop diet. AMEN! Perhaps I just need to pop a stool softener or 2 every day no matter what? Duh. I don't feel like I eat enough right now to ...well, no matter. Rather have Blow Out Butt than be Strainy Girl.

Re: straining/discharge/spotting picks up...
I definitely recommend continuing to use the stool softeners if they haven't caused any problems. I thought I was doing okay and quit and then had trouble again. I found that every time I strained, even a little bit, my spotting started again or got worse. I know it wasn't coincidental.

Since you are still so early in healing I would not push too much. I couldn't take the stool softeners because they cause diarrhea for me but I know a lot of women here took them for over a month. I hope your feeling better.

I do not push. I am afraid to push and pop any stitches inside. I still take stool softeners, and it does seem to work. Never had any blood or discharge tho??

Re: straining/discharge/spotting picks up...
My doctor told me not to strain especially that soon after surgery. I too was much better after 3 weeks but I still had to be very careful because everytime I strained, I spotted or bled and then had pelvic pain later in the day. They gave me colace and then I got Miralax. Oh my gosh, that Miralax saved me. It made everything so much easier over the following weeks and I still keep it in my cabinet today, 8 months later. I'm sold on that stuff for sure.
Take it easy, try not to push too much.

Re: straining/discharge/spotting picks up...
*curtsey* Thank you, girls!!! Instead of waiting until it's been 3 days and going through the poop panic, I'll just pop a colace every day and see if that will keep 'er movin. Yeah, I'm not a fan of straining at all and I have the proper Wrecking The Vagina Cuff fear so...hehe. I found some old threads about how long it's okay to be on colace or whatever for, and that was reassuring also. LOVE Hystersister.com!

Extra raisin bran, bran buds, Active yogurt with fibre and stool softener and fibrous fruit will cure what ails ya . My tip for the day is fresh not canned pineapple. Best fruit to eat to promote healing after surgery. Ate a whole pineapple this week after surg all by myself.
