Itchy, itchy, itchy!!!
Ugh!!! Benedryl is my friend right now! My itchy rash is still there across the top of my tummy and under the boobles. When I took a shower this morning I noticed that it is also in that little tummy fold where my incision is (TMI - sorry). I quit taking the percocet on Saturday and have been taking benedryl since then. I have a 9:30 a.m. appt with the surgeon tomorrow morning. I'm really not hurting much at all (I haven't even taken Advil today) but I sure am itchy as all get out!
Going to take a nice little nap now that the Benedryl seems to be kicked it a bit.

Re: Itchy, itchy, itchy!!!
It sounds like an allergic reaction to the medicine. I feel for you because I am also allergic to meds and get this reaction. If you have any problems breathing, call 911 immediately. That is the sign of an anaphyllatic reaction which is life threatening. Also if you start having hives, call your doc immediately. I developed hives that started spreading and ended up in the er with anaphyllatic reaction. Hope the benadryl helps you.

Re: Itchy, itchy, itchy!!!
Went to the doc this morning and it turns out they used something called a "bair hugger" during surgery to keep my body temp up and the lines of the rash directly correlate to where the hugger was (it is strange that my rash has straight lines on my tummy). So I'm on a cortisone cream and to keep up with the benedryl. The surgeon said that I am the first patient he's had in his 10 years of doing these surgeries that had a reaction to the hugger (yay for me, right?). He is going to contact the OR and make sure they don't use the hugger on patients with contact allergies going forward - so there is my contribution to Medical Science.
I have felt better than I thought I would 5 days after surgery but by the time I got home I was wiped out and hurting (I swear that my mom hit every pothole and road bump on the way there and back). So I just ate lunch, took some percocet and benedryl and I'm off to take a nap now.
Feel better, sisters!
