Post-op D&C

As some of you may have read on a previous post of mine, I had a D&C; hysteroscopy with many polyps removed this past Wednesday afternoon.

I completely stopped bleeding by that night and the following morning...not even a spot! Then by Thursday afternoon, I started a light flow and now it's seems to be somewhat of a period I'm having. I was due for my period during this time, so I assume that is what's going on.

I called my doctor and he said because my uterus was so large and he did extensive scraping and removing of polyps, that I shouldn't be too concerned unless the bleeding really becomes extremely heavy, like needing to change a pad once an hour. Thankfully, I'm not at that point and certainly will call him back if it happens. I was told to rest and stay off my feet, (I'm not real good at that).

My question is, did any of you who have had this procedure done experience bleeding of a moderate flow for several days? I had a D&C five years ago and it was a breeze, no spotting the next day or anything.

I'm still pretty bummed out about not being able to have the NovaSure done. But there's no guarantee that would have helped in the long run either as now my doctor suspects I may have adenomyosis.

Diane,

I know you were looking forward to a months freedom, I am so sorry.

Wishing you an earlier menopause! First time I ever said that!

I had a D/C many, many years ago and had light spotting afterwards that lasted weeks, but no heavy bleeding.

Sorry about your double disappointment.

Hi Diane - I've had two D & Cs one in Feb 04 and one in March 05. Both times I had only light bleeding for about a week but I wasn't having bleeding issues at the time. The first time I had 8-10 polyps removed. I thought if most of the lining was removed there shouldn't be that much left to bleed, but it's good you checked with your doctor. Just remember to try and take it easy (don't lift anything heavy or do to much). Keep us posted on how you are doing and what your path results are.

Good Luck

Mary
