Fibroids: Too big for daVinci hysterectomy? Should i get a second opinion?

Hi everyone I've been a member here a while and just kind of lurking. I have been to lots of docs more that 6 trying to see if i am eligible for alternatives to my fibroid problem. Been to IRs, REs, Oncologists, Gynecologists and all said i am too big for other options and need hysterectomy. I am looking like i am 7/8 months pregnant. My uterus comes all the way up to my breast bone. It fills my whole cavity. I look like i am about to pop. I am wanting a hyster now. When i first started i so wanted to keep my uterus. Reproductive endo told me he could remove the large fibroids and not the small ones. IRs said i was too big, fibroids would still be there but softer and concerned about my swollen kidneys. Oncologists wanted to take all my goodies and scared the hell out of me about the myomectomy procedure. So i went to a da vinci doc thurdsday and she said i am too big and she wouldn't have room for the camera since my uterus comes up so far. I scheduled an appointment with another da vinci doc. Is it worth it????? Will he tell me he has no room for the camera too? Can you be too big for a da vinci hysterectomy? I thought it was for difficult surgeries? I kind of broke
down in the doctor's office because i am so tried of going to all these
doctors!!!! Hope yall see this message.

If you can, get a second opinion. Either you will get another option or a confirmation of what the first Dr. has said. It sounds like you have been through so much already and need some relief.

My uterus was sitting just below my belly button and davinci was not available mainstream. Fortunately I got a Dr. who specializes in "key hole" surgery. I needed 6 tiny abdominal incisions and then my uterus was removed vaginally. My uterus was massive it needed to be cut. My surgery and recovery went well and I have no regrets.

It is always a wise idea to get a second opinion. You need and deserve to know all your options so that you can make an informed decision.

Thanks ladies for your replies. I took a walk in nature to think. I have decided to seek a 2nd opinion about da vinci. Maybe this new doc has more skill. We will see. Thank you.

I think a 2nd opinion is a good idea too. It might give you more information to look at...which can help you make the best decision for yourself.
