1st day home from LAVH

Hi Ladies!
I got home from the castle this morning after having LAVH on Tuesday. I feel good, so far. But I seem to have lost my taste buds! I'm also a smoker, but haven't smoked in 4 days so I was just wondering if anyone else has lost their taste and when does it come back?

Unfortunately, I'm one of those who has not been able to STOP eating LOL. I didn't smoke either in the hospital, but surely not ready to quit now!

I have to get thru this recuperation first. One major trauma at a time

Please take care of yourself and go really easy, so you STAY feeling good.

I remember losing my appetitie, partial from nothing tasting or sounding good. So, maybe I lost my taste buds! I didn't think about it at the time!

Glad you are feeling so well. Remember as a new to lots of water, when you are able, and REST REST REST! Always follow your dr's instructions and call him/her with any questions!

You will get that taste back when all the narcotics, drugs, anaesthetic leaves your system...so if you are still on Percocet.....

Make sure when you brush your teeth, you brush your tongue as far back as you can go. Some medications will leave you with icky stuff in the back there.

I lost my appetite completely the first week or so. I also couldn't stand certain smells either. Kinda weird. After reading this site, I found that alot of us have experienced this as well.

I blamed it on the anesthesia and pain meds. Seems to be all better now. I have lost 10 pounds since surgery on 11/7/05, but have a feeling that since my appetite is back and I am sitting on my butt all day that it will all come back soon enough!! UGH!
