ok ladies i need info about UTI'S and any relation with low back pain

Hello you all sisters!! I'm 12 weeks post op. I did have a D Vinci on Sep 10 and never have a UTI before. My issues were more about being a slow healer and yes some pain here and there, those "normal" depending on the number of week. On my first week pain was so bad due to a hematoma that drained ( week after or so) by itself (painfully) idk why but I was given antibiotics. Well, part of my vaginal cuff didn't want to heal so every 2 weeks I was treated with silver nitrate and even that, I was released to work at 8w but restricted sex till week 10 (no issues with that but libido is zero so that's another story) ok. Second part of the story : at week 9 I started to have mild low back pain and after two days the pain was getting severe. At that time I had one of my silver treatments and I let the dr staff know about my pain they did a urine test (which show some blood in it) that apparently didn't concerned my dr and she said that for that I should she my primary dr. And I did the following day she ran another urine test showing the same :some blood in it. She was surprised that my OB didn't take care of me so anyways she sent me for a pelvic ultrasound that showed nothing. So she said maybe a CT SCAN will bring some answers and in the meantime she prescribed Tramadol. She told me that my insurance will take time to approve the CT SCAN and if the pain get it worst I should go to ER. The next day I went to work on pain all day and when I got home I was in tears and barely could walk due to the severe pain and I begged my hubby to take me to the ER (Nov 16) I got a keterolac shot, a Valium pill and since I had nauseas too I was given something for that too. There, they did a X rays that showed NOTHING. Dr at ER prescribed Flexeril (muscle relaxer) Vicodin and Colace (you know Vicodin cause horrible constipation) she said to go back to my primary dr (yeah again) let her know about it and to try to have the CT Scan ASAP. Well she sent me for another ultrasound cause insurance hasn't approve the scan yet and nothing but this time the urine test came clear no more blood in it. I have to say that I don't have any burning sensation when I pee the only thing I have realized is that I pee more often and I have the feeling that I'm taking longer to empty my bladder and I mean, I think I'm done and have to seat again. Idk if this is normal. The only thing I know is that my low back pain is driving me crazy I mean, for how long I'm gonna be taking muscle relaxer and pain killers pills? My dr now thinks that maybe is something muscular and not renal related. Who is right? Any of you have had this low back pain at this point (12 weeks After hysterectomy??? I don't want to be taking pills forever, I want to know why is this pain and find a solution and BE ME AGAIN. I'm so EXHAUSTED and is even hard for me to turn side to side in my bed. Any thoughts about this long story? Any advice? I know we can different perspectives and that's why I posting my story. Sorry for the vent but I'm so frustrated and feel so helpless and disappointed. Thank You for taking the time to read this ...

Re: ok ladies i need info about UTI'S and any relation with low back pain

2 years ago, i developed a UTI, was on antibiotics for a while when i started to develop lower back pain, (also had blood in my urine).

After many ct scan, etc... turned out to be a kidney infection (with complications), ended up in the ER.

Can you go to your regular doc and ask to be tested for this?

Hope your issue gets resolved soon, and that it is not a kidney infection... so painful

Re: ok ladies i need info about UTI'S and any relation with low back pain

Hi GPMS! Well, this last visit to my regular dr she told me that probably my insurance won't pay for a CT. SCAN cause my urine test came out clean and there's no excuse for that. She didn't say it, but I guess she won't try anymore to get the approval. I went today to the lab for my blood tests and she wants to see me next Friday and in the meantime she gave me another prescription of Flexeril and more Tramadol. Yesterday I tried to be the full day without any medication to see how bad my pain could become and if I could handle it. Well I found myself on mild pain by midday. Then by mid evening pain little more increased but still not so bad. By about 9 pm I said to myself ok you are not a hero go and get your pills and rest.lol. I guess my pain wasn't So Bad cause I've been taking flexeril and Vicodin or Tramadol everyday that I may still have some narcotics in my system. My primary dr recommended baths every night and OTC creams for muscle pain. She is now thinking that is something muscular instead (I just can't believe that) how long can last a muscle pain? For weeks?? My hubby doesn't believe that either. Should I insist on the CT SCAN or look for a 2 nd opinion? Some days I don't feel so bad but when bed time comes and I realize how hard and painful is for me to turn to one side to the other, then is when I think I should keep trying to find the real reason for all this pain.

Re: ok ladies i need info about UTI'S and any relation with low back pain

I've had lower back pain with uti's and it can also get really bad for me when I need to use the bathroom. Have your bowels been doing ok? Getting everything out I mean? I found that my bowels were really slow to wake up and I had to be careful when eating too much without a movement or I wouldn't be able to move. Sounds really weird but it's true.

Re: ok ladies i need info about UTI'S and any relation with low back pain

I had severe lower back pain and a fever and had a collection of fluid that got infected. A ct scan with contrast and an x ray with contrast and after I peed caught this. It was a life threatening emergency.

Re: ok ladies i need info about UTI'S and any relation with low back pain

I am also thinking kidney infection if there was blood in your urine and bad back pain. I have had this and they are very painful. Perhaps your white blood cell count is ok so that is why they did not put you on antibiotics.

I have fibromyalgia and after surgery, it flared up. I take Cymbalta but was also put on a muscle relaxer and I responded within days. This does not sound muscular type to me as it was my back, shoulders, neck and upper legs that were all affected.

Perhaps a UTI. With UTI's, you have urgency to pee and back pain; not always a fever.

I do hope you can get to the bottom of this. I can imagine how frustrated you are. In the meantime, a heating pad will help to relieve some pain in your back.

Re: ok ladies i need info about UTI'S and any relation with low back pain

I did have a collection of fluid (they called it a seroma) at 6 days post op that they put me back in the hospital for. My back hurt but then again so did everything at that point.

Re: ok ladies i need info about UTI'S and any relation with low back pain

Hi ladies thanks for the replies. I just have a blood test today so I will have to wait a few days to get the results. My low back pain remains the same almost. My last urine test came out clean as dr said. It means no more blood in it. I don't understand why she just decides that this is muscular without going any deeper? How I can't have a CT SCAN and find out the root of this pain.? Is just a matter of insurance? Should I beg for it? And she gave me only half of the dose of the Flexeril that the ER dr gave me just "help me manage my pain" how sad is all these (

Did the silver nitrate finally heal the cuff? My cuff isn't healing and the silver nitrate treatment made me very nauseous and sick. Also, my bowels are not working and I'm having lower back spasms ...feeling discouraged!!
