Taking a bath? Taking a bath?

Taking a bath?

I am one week post op, and I know I am not supposed to let my incisions soak in a bath, but can I still sit in a bath up to my legs, or is it a thing about water getting into the vagina too? (I know that happens a little when you sit in a bath)

Just curious. Nothing sounds better than reading my Kindle in a warm bath tonight.

Re: Taking a bath?

I was told no baths or swimming for 6-8 weeks for increased risk of infection. He told me it was because of water entering the vagina carrying everything in the water with it and boy do I miss the hot baths reading. I know each doctor is different so it wouldn't hurt to put a call in and see what he/she thinks.

Re: Taking a bath?

Yep...no baths for the reasons listed above and getting out of the tube can be very tricky. You can fall, rip something etc. I LOVE LOVE LOVE my baths and I cannot wait until I can take a long soak, but it will have to wait until late July. Hang in there!

Re: Taking a bath?

I was told no baths, no hot rubs and no pool till after I came and got the green light from the doc at my 8 week check up. I missed my baths so much that the day the doc said go for it...I did! Just make sure your tub has been scrubbed super clean and rinsed extremely well.

Re: Taking a bath?

I would double check like crrish said, each Dr is different my Dr only gave me a 48 hour restriction post op so it doesn't hurt to ask. When you get the ok be careful, it can be kinda tough to get out of the tub the first time

Re: Taking a bath?

My gyn/onc said baths were okay after she checked me at 2 weeks. I've been doing them since, but I do clean the tub a lot!
