My endo and adneo story w/ lots of ?s
I am 28 and already have 3 children and my husband did get snipped in 2007 so we are done having children. My dr. highly suspects adeno though I do know I for sure have endo but they don't think that is the cause of my pain. I had laproscopic surgery last Dec and that is when I was diagnosed with endo and the Dr removed some spots and I had been on BC to help control the length and amount of bleeding with my periods. Within a few weeks the pain was back but he told me to give it time to work. It only got worse and he just kept prescribing narcotics which made me not only very sick but knocked me right out. I was in the process of getting a brand new job so I couldn't be drugged up. I was finally referred to a specialist from a friend and he had me start taking the BC continuously and did a hysteroscopy to remove 3 large uterine polyps and D&C. This all seemed to help for a few months but then I started to bleed all the time. They had me go off the BC for a week and within 4 days all the pain was back, just like it was never gone. They had be go back on the BC right away but I can't get in to see him for a few weeks.
I'm so done with all this pain and bloating (look about 3 months prego). I can't play with my kids, I can hardly walk to the end of my driveway. Am I crazy to just tell him I want a hyter? He said I would keep my ovaries since the endo doesn't seem to be an issue. So glad I found all of you. What are your thoughts? I HATE taking all kinds of drugs and just want the pain to stop.

Re: My endo and adneo story w/ lots of ?s
If your pain and bleeding is because of adenomyosis, then a hysterectomy could be the answer for you, after you have tried all the alternatives. If the endometriosis is actually the problem, then a hysterectomy may or may not help.
I would suggest seeking at least a second opinion before scheduling a hysterectomy.
We do have several Endometriosis and Adenomyosis Resources you may want to read through to learn all you can about both conditions.
Do keep in mind that a hysterectomy is not a risk free surgery so you do want to be sure the pros outweigh the cons!

Re: My endo and adneo story w/ lots of ?s
I know how you feel hun, i couldnt play with my daughter, i couldnt go grocery shoping with out pain. was on hormones for 6 years non stop and pain meds for over 2 years. If adeno is your problem than a hysterectomy is the only cure and my dr said a hysterectomy cures 80% of endo patients . lots of luck!
