Re: Another swelly belly question

Good question! I'm also hoping this swelly belly goes away soon.
My belly is huge by bedtime & so uncomfortable.

Re: Another swelly belly question

So glad to hear I'm not alone. I'm about 7 weeks post-ops and still getting swelly belly. Right now I feel 6 months pregnant.

Any tips to help combat it would be helpful.

Re: Another swelly belly question

Hi - I've been 4 weeks and still quite swollen although it seems to have settled directly above my wound (bikini line about 6 inches long). It almost looks like a shelf above it! Hope it goes down at some point as it looks quite weird. Has anyone else found this after having the bikini line cut?

I have the same shelf at 9 weeks, it's better than it was at 4 weeks but it's still there. I've always had a relatively flat tummy and now it looks distorted. I am hopeful it will continue to subside. I'll keep you updated!

Re: Another swelly belly question

Hi guys...I've still got the"shelf"effect over the bikini line (particularly on the right side) after 7months!!!!.
My local GP has said it's my stomach muscle which has healed lower down from me doing"too much too soon"(although I felt I did'nt)....GREAT!!!!:-(

Re: Another swelly belly question

At 17 weeks, I'm still getting some swelly belly by evening each day. I'm not seeing the "shelf" thing, however, probably because I've got a vertical incision. From discussing this previously with other sisters, the shelf seems to be more of a feature with horizontal incisions. Your skin and muscles are kind of stuck together along the incision, so they can't slide against each other to adjust. Any "extra" piles up on the upper side of the incision -> shelf.
