Do I have PMS?

Ok, so I completely melted down last night! I couldn't get the poor sick baby to sleep and I was in pain. I just started crying and begging him to calm down. DH just sat there with his grumpy look. He finally took him into his room and got him to sleep. Why am I such a mess? Tomorrow will be 4 wks. post-op. I had my period when I went in, and I kept my ovaries. Is it possible I'm this messed up from PMS?

Do I have PMS?

I'm sorry you're feeling out of sorts. Since we still have our ovaries, we can still feel PMS. It's also possible that the surgery has affected them for a short time. You're also still early in the healing process, so normal care for your baby would be hard to do.

If you feel like things are harder than usual, may I suggest talking with your doctor? The doctors can have suggestions for feeling better again.

Hope this afternoon is better for you!

Do I have PMS?

yeah - totally! As I understand it, if you keep your ovaries (which I did) you still have the same old hormonal fluctuations, but without the bleeding. So that means we're also going to feel premenstrual.

But give yourself a break, honey! You have a sick baby, you've had surgery, you're tired, healing and in pain....I hope your DH is being supportive and not grumpy. You've been through a heck of a lot and have to cope with a baby on top, and now a sick one? I felt like melting down just reading your post.

Do I have PMS?

Thanks ladies. I can feel those hugs!!! The baby is getting a little better, so I may be able to take him to daycare for a while to get a break. That was the plan anyway. I was asked at work today (I teach and had to pick up my son at the same schoo) If I was feeling like coming back. I gave them a resounding no!! Last week I was contemplating going back Thursday, but now I realize I couldn't do it yet.

I love this site! Thanks for the support!

Do I have PMS?

Please, take your time going back to work, in the famous words of hystersisters "listen to your body". if you have ovaries you will have PMS. I am going through it as we speak and it is not fun. I have to say I am glad I kept the ovaries, the hormones have many benefits to our bodies. Good luck with everything and I hope you baby gets well soon. PS ask for help from friends and family if you need it. At this time you are first.
