Miserable

I had my surgery on Oct 9th at 1p .. I did really well thru surgery and in the hospital. The pain is pretty much non existent other than some gas discomfort every now and then. I have just plain felt awful .. I at times feel like I have a fever but take it and it says I dont. I get up to use the bathroom and walk around a little but thats about as much as I can do. Today I went thru the feeling feverish at the same time I did yesterday. I am taking 800mg ibuprofen every 8 hrs and tylenol every 4hrs if needed. I have no appetite but have forced myself to eat some and today I am feeling really nauseas. I have had a few bowel movements since I came home. I have really bad anxiety and with all of this going on its gotten really bad!! Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Re: Miserable

I am so sorry that you feel so awful The good thing is that is sounds like your pain is under control I would recommend eating soup or crackers when you take your ibuprofen as that can make you nauseated. You are still early in your healing process & it can take some time to start feeling better. If your anxiety gets worse, I would recommend a phone call to your Dr. for something to help as you need to focus on getting better! Part of this may be your ovaries being in shock right now which can happen after this surgery...it takes a little time for them to get working again! Good luck with this! Hugs to you!

Re: Miserable

Yes, as Dwebbie said, you are still early in your recovery. I am almost 9 weeks post op. In my second week I too started to feel achy and feverish even though I was taking ibup & Tylenol. My fever hovered around 99. It probably lasted about 2-3 days mostly feeling it in the evening. Its possible we get achy like that because our bodies are healing. Just watch out for the high fever. I didn't even have an appetite either but when I needed to take the ibup I would eat crackers with them. I would also drink propel in between water to help keep me hydrated. I also remember having heart palpitations more than normal. Probably caused by menopause/anxiety. Keep resting too. You need it. It does get better. Best wishes!

Re: Miserable

You may be experiencing post surgical hot flashes...I am told it's quite normal. I had so many hot flashes, I thought I would go crazy at times. I am now nearly 11 weeks post-op and they have subsided. Because we still have ovaries though, I am also told we can expect to continue having what seems like period cramps, headaches and breast tenderness for some time. But for me, I will take these little annoyances over the heavily clotted monthly bleeding and pain that often lasted 3 weeks. I feel like I have a new lease on life.
Best wishes to you for a complete and happy recovery.
