Swelling at 7 weeks post hysterectomy?

Hello, anybody still swollen after 7 weeks of abdominal surgery?
I am so sick of having this belly, feels hard, the skin hurts, and many times the belly feels hot, but no fever.... Doctor says I am fine, that may be the intestines...!
I can not believe I still have this swollen belly!!!
I used to be better, more swollen the last 2 weeks!

Re: Swelling at 7 weeks?

Not uncommon at all, even at 7 weeks, to still have swelly belly . As we start doing more daily living, many Sisters notice it in the evenings even if they've not really done anything strenuous. My doctor said I'd likely start noticing it less around 8 weeks. He was right, though I'd still get it. One time it happened because I shoved a 24-pack of soda up on a high shelf - it wasn't the weight of the cube, but the motion of lifting and shoving. Last bout of swelly belly was 5 or so weeks ago at 5 months post-op after a short but intense abs workout. That's why you read so often that full healing is more like 4-6 months post-op, sometimes longer. Frustrating, but it is what it is and there's not anything you can do to make it disappear. You can read more here at Tummy Care - Swelly Belly.

Re: Swelling at 7 weeks?

I second what Cussette said. I actually had surgery the same day as her so we are both 6 months post op. The last time I remember getting swelly belly was about a month ago. It does get better but it can take a long time to heal from the surgery.

Re: Swelling at 7 weeks?

My swelly belly lasted about 13 weeks, although it was fairly minimal for the last few.
