A Good Suggestion....

Before i left from the castle i made sure i signed the papers so the castle could send me a copy of the surgery itself

so i know exactly what the doctors did

if i hadnt read this site i would have never thought about whether or not they remove the appendix.....

While i was in the castle i asked my oncologist and he told me he did remove it since i didnt need it

so if i hadnt have asked i would have never thought of it, or have known that it was removed

if ur dr doesnt tell u, dont be afraid to ask, and have the castle send u a copy of the surgery as soon as its available

more for peace of mind then anything else so u know exactly what was done

A Good Suggestion....

I got my copy from the DR office. They gave it to me free. My castle wanted $35 and could never get around to sending the paperwork, which, btw, had to be notarized!

Ksses -
That is a great idea, along with that you may also want a copy of your pathology report. Your will be able to give you this. This tells you all about the stuff that they did take out and will let you know if anything unusual is present. I was glad I got a copy of mine - turned out I had a fibroid in my uterus which wasn't large enough to show up on u/s.

A Good Suggestion....

Well im telling, ive been doing alot of reading lately, and i have no clue if i still have my cervix or not

i know ill find out, but i dont think it ever dawned on me to ask

i cant wait to get the operating report and *made note* pathology report

i saw my last surgical procedure in Aug, and the pathology report was attached, so i could bring it to my Oncologist

i think ill ask my Dr for an extra copy of that surgery just to have my own file of it

that way if my daughters ever need to refer to my medical history for their own they will know exactly what i had

Too Funny!!!

Oh my goodness !! Your doctor would have been in for a huge surprise when looking for your appendix!! That is too funny!!

Ksses - if you had a total hysterectomy - you should no longer have your cervix - but you are right about asking your dr. to be sure.

A Good Suggestion....

Oh ok Wen,

thanks, i just like having a list of exactly what was taken out LOL

My MIL had Gall Bladder surgery not long ago, as far as we were told, he was just going to remove the stones.... i wound up searching some things online, called her surgeon back and found out they had removed her gall bladder too

if we hadnt asked we would have never known, it was never mentioned to either of us

amazing what doctors dont tell us, or assume we know etc
