vaginal cuff

Went today for six week post-op, which was really 7 weeks due to Thanksgiving. Surgeon said that my vaginal cuff was not healed which did not seem to bother him because I had extensive damage to cervix before surgery. He said I could not have sex for another 4 weeks and my follow up appointment is January 9th. This will be a 3 month recovery time has anyone had to wait this long for sex. My husband has been wonderful and has waited patiently but I do not blame him for being distraught about the situation. Has anyone else had to wait this long? Should I be worried?

My doctor told me out the gate that sex would be off limits for 3 months. No matter if he clears me of everything else. Sex was not happening for 12 weeks. He said in his past he would tell his patients it was okay at 8 weeks, and boom complications, so he doesn't clear anyone for 12 weeks where sex is concerned. So you aren't alone. =] No worries!!!

I had my 6 week post op today and Dr says he wont clear me for sex for another month.

Be creative with your Husband. I wasn't cleared until almost 9 weeks- we gave it another 3... But made fun out of the time/ well for him anyway!

Not unusual for some of us. I had to wait 12 weeks because of cuff repairs. This too shall pass.

Oh my gosh...I just made a thread for this every same topic! I should have read yours first. I thought I was the only one that had to wait 12 weeks for sex, lifting and the such. I still have stitches at 6 weeks post op.
I haven't seen anyone say that they had to wait that long...until the replies on here!
I am glad that I am not alone, and that my husband isn't the only poor guy out there! Ha!

Thanks for commiserating with me. Also, since the exam today I have a slight pain like someone poking me and it has not gone away, I know it is there all the time. A little more discharge and bleeding since exam. Wonder how long I should wait before I call the doctor? I guess he is right and we will need to wait all 12 and 1/2 weeks. Can over doing things during 6 week recovery cause cuff damage?

I must have overdone it during my first 6 weeks because i developed a vaginal cuff hematoma from a possibly torn stitch :/ The general rule is that if u soak a pad within an hour go to the ER. My Dr told me that i would bleed after my exam today. I have been bleeding but not too bad. Still on pain meds so that is helping with the post exam pain.

Thanks Ladies I am going to bed, maybe I will take an ibuprofen and it will all be gone tomorrow.

My doctor also told me from the start, nothing in the vagina for 10 weeks. She said it is very important to allow the cuff to heal properly. I read some stories on this site about ladies who were given the okay too soon and tore their cuff. I'm telling you, I had no problem waiting for the full 10 weeks after that!
