Weird question...
I worry about some stupid things sometimes.
Ok, so it hit me today that generally when in surgery you have to remove any jewelery/piercings. Well, this is no small task for me. I have a total of 9 piercings: 2 in my left ear, 4 in my right ear, my nose, tongue and belly button.
My belly button was done in November, which is when two of my ear piercings were done also. If I take them out, they may close... something I do not want to happen.
Does anyone have any experience with this? I'd imagine the tongue and belly button would definitely have to come out... or would they? Anyone know if I can use the clear retainers?
I'm weird, I know... but I didn't know who else to ask!

Weird question...
I wouldn't think the newer piecerings would have the hole heal closed during the time you had to have them out. A person can put earrings back in after surgery if they wanted to. I would imagine you can stick the one back in your navel when you awaken from surgery and feel like it.
It's for safety reason that they need to be removed during surgery.

Weird question...
I have 5 ear piercings and belly button...dr said they ALL had to come out prior to surgery and were not to be reinserted until AFTER I was sent home. Check with your dr and/or hospital...they just don't like to have any metal in you when they're doing surgery...or so the hospital said.

Weird question...
I would call your doctor and ask them about it and ask about the plastic retainers.

Weird question...
Thanks everyone! Looks like I'll have to remove just about everything. My belly button may close because it's still relatively new and takes forever to heal, but I'll just repierce it. My tongue, on the other hand, I won't repierce if it closes.
I obsess over the stupidest things LOL

Weird question...
Yeah hun, they are going to make you take them all out....the tongue one is a problem because they insert a breathing tube after you go to sleep, and it could get in the way, or knocked out and go down your throat etc....
I know they offered to allow me to keep my wedding rings on, but they were going to completely cover them in tape if I did...so I just gave them to DH to hold...I got them back as soon as I got to my room....
Sorry about, but they have good reasons for it...
Blessings
Janice

Weird question...
It all has to come out. They will more than likely cauterize some of the internal stuff and if you have anything metal on you it could cause burns.
