Hello all...I had my hysterectomy at the end of dec 2005. I still have my overies. A couple of questions for anyone willing to answer since it all moved very fast for me.
1. why if I have my overies do I feel hot alot of the times?
2. I feel as if I still get "period" symptoms is this normal. Like headaches and bad back pain like I would normally around my period time.
3. Very Very Very moody, I was usually kinda moody but that has really increased.
4. very depressed(maybe that is my moodiness)
5. Vaginal dryness and lack of sex drive.
I thought I understood the Dr but maybe not. Thanks in advance

Let me see if I can help you a bit. As I kept my ovaries as well, I have experienced many of your symptoms--and I am much natured post op than I ever was pre op! Since you have kept your ovaries, they should still cycle, so you can continue to have PMS (or PNS--pre nothing syndrome). It can take some time after a hyst before your hormones are cycling regularly again so you may also have some symptoms of menopause mixed in.

You may wish to have your hormones levels check by your dr in case your levels are not where they should be. You can also ask him/her what options you have to help with your symptoms. Depending on your hormone levels, you may need some HRT or just b/c to help.
It can be frustrating as you wait for your body to settle down and get all adjusted. in there!

It's all normal for some women. I had the hot flashes, the night sweats, and would chill until my teeth would chatter. Your ovaries just might not have woken up yet.

I remember at one point feeling depressed as well. I think it was because I did way too much and felt bad.....

I also am still moody, and crave choc. once a month. I also had vaginal dryness, but after about 8 weeks... I think it was that but not sure..... Now I'm fine in that area as well....

My Dr. didn't bother telling me these things would happen either.... Just acted as if it would all be fine..... I was thinking the same as you if left one ovary, why am I have all these symptoms... Thanks to this site I understood......

it will get better...... Good luck!
