Gas pain still at 9 weeks post op????

Hi! I am feeling so much better in many ways since my surgery. But I am struggling with gas in my lower bowel. It gets very painful because everything is still so tender down there. Has anyone else experienced this???? I did have scar tissue removed from my bowels so I'm sure that is part of the reason. Any suggestions??? My doctor didn't seem to think anything of it when I told him.

Gas pain still at 9 weeks post op????

We had different surgeries so I am not sure if it is the same? I had extensive repair of rectocele and enterocele and cystocele. When I need to have a bm I feel alot of pain and discomfort "down there". I went to my doctor because I thought something was wrong? He said I was having pelvic floor and rectal muscle spasms. He put me on a muscle relaxer and that has helped tremendously!! Hope you feel better soon! Hugs, Carolyn

Gas pain still at 9 weeks post op????

Hi kariryno
At nine weeks it seems like the major discomfort from gas should be over. Having pains from gas is something that happens to all of us from time to time.
I just don't understand why drs do that, just brush things off when it is something that is effecting our lives and especially when we are in pain.
If this continues I would see another dr and make sure you aren't having some kind of other gastric problems that could be helped by another type of dr. I'm guessing this dr didn't know what it was or how to treat it so he ignored it.
I don't know what this is but some women seem to develop irritable bowel problems after surgery. You might want to look it up on the internet just to see if your symptoms sound at at all familiar.
I hope you can find your answers soon. Please keep us posted.
s, Rita

Gas pain still at 9 weeks post op????

Hi, I am 7 weeks out and having the same problem. I've been living on Gas-x and stool softeners and even though it is getting better it still hasn't gone away. I talked to my Dr. at my 6 week checkup and she wants me to have a colonoscopy because maybe something got kinked during the surgery. Yuck!!! I am not looking forward to this especially since I'm still a little tender down there. Hopefully the GI doctor will have some ideas of what it could be - the muscle relaxant medication sounds promising. Good luck - you are not alone.

Thanks!

Thanks for your input ladies....I am actually having a better day today. I do have symptoms of IBS and suspect that is the culprit. I had trouble before my hysterectomy as well. My doctor did say that I needed to give things time since he had to really mess with my bowels to remove adhesions and scar tissue. It's just nice to know what others are experiencing to be sure.

Hope all goes well with you too!
