Hysterectomy Option Question

Sisters, I have a question. Which Hysterectomy option should I take? At last Dr. appointment he made several suggestions, TVH, LAVH, LSH. My next appointment and pre-op is Thursday the 7th. Which option is necessary? I have been having heavy bleeding since I was 13. It has been over 20 years. For the past year I have been having cronic pelvic pain with or without a cycle. Also I have had family members with ovarian cancer. I am tired of suffering! What advice do you have for my options?
Thanks for your responses.

Hysterectomy Option Question

Hi Martykw06,

In my opinion, all are excellent surgery types. And all are less invasive hysts.

Here is a Hyster Sisters link that goes over the different types of hysts:

I had a LSH since I was a good candidate to keep my cervix. The TVH and LAVH are both vaginal hysts and the cervix is removed.

Best wishes,

Mary

Hysterectomy Option Question

Hi Marty!

I don't think I have ever heard of a doctor giving so many different surgery type choices to a patient, leaving to the patient to decide. A patient like me, for example, would not have the medical knowledge to make that decision. I guess if I were in your situation, I would ask the doctor, "What do you recommend, based on my diagnosis and medical status?" It also might be enlightening to obtain a second opinion from a different gynecologist.

Whatever type of surgery you decide to have, I hope it turns out to be the best, for you!

Hysterectomy Option Question

Thankyou for the advice. I will question my Dr about recommendations when I go to the pre-op. Thanks again!
