I am 3 weeks post op. I have been breaking out with hives every day for a week and it is driving me crazy! I still have my ovaries and wondering if it could be a hormonal unbalance or something! I am on antibiotics but the hives started the day before I started taking them!

Did you try putting Benadryl gel on the hives?

Yes. I have also taken the tablets. It helps for a short while but comes right back!

How short a while? If you mean like ten minutes, then obviously the gel and the tablets are doing much good. But if you can get a couple hours' relief before you have to reapply the gel, that may be the best you can do until the hives resolve themselves.

Hives can sometimes be due to a *temporary* allergic reaction. Once when I was a teenager, I developed a temporary to food - any kind of food - after a bout of stomach flu. I broke out in hives whenever I ate. All I could do was to eat sparingly and dab soothing gels and lotions on the hives for a couple weeks until the temporary allergy resolved.
