What is most comfortable to wear after?

Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions for what will be most comfortable to wear immediately after the surgery. I don't know yet whether it will be an abdominal surgery or vaginal, i will meet with the Dr. again in a couple of weeks after she reviews all of my ultrasounds etc. I'm thinking the stretchyer the better. I don't plan to leave the house for awhile afterwards so I guess I can get away with my nightshirts! Hey, when else do you get to sit around in your jammies all day?!

I was thinking for on the way home maybe just some loose workout type pants. I don't know. I know its like 7 weeks away but i'm sure it's going to go by fast. Can't tell I'm a little nervous can you?

I have gone shopping and got some scrubs (pants) that are a size larger than what I would normally wear, along with an oversize t-shirt. Also got some cute capri-type jammies, in a size larger that I plan on wearing home from the hospital. I have read scrub pants work well, as you can make them as tight or as loose as you want.

What is most comfortable to wear after?

Anything comfortable that's at least one size larger than your normal size. Since mine was during the winter. I spent most of my recovery time in either large flannels or sweats. Try to get something with a drawstring waist instead of elasctic - it's more comfy and easier on the belly.

Best to you.

What is most comfortable to wear after?

I bought a new long sundress to wear home. I figured that would go over my wound. I also pulled out some of my underwear that is too big to wear home. Figured, I'll just be in the car going home and will be hopping in bed.

Hi Wilpn!

Scrubs really are great. Anything with an elastic waist band or stretchy cotton material works well also. Yoga pants are a dream! It's actually a good idea to hang around in nightgowns and jammies for a while because it reminds people that you're not up to doing things. For some reason, the minute you get dressed, people think you're ready to jump back on the active life train. Before you know it this will all be a distant memory. The waiting is the worst part of it all. The nerves are normal and they fluctuate. Sometimes you'll feel very blissful and calm, and other times you'll feel like you can't stand living in your own skin while you count down the days. Try to keep positive thoughts. I'm betting you're going to do just fine. You'll be in my prayers and if you need reassurance, we're here for you.

What is most comfortable to wear after?

I wore loose sundresses for several weeks. Easy to get in and out of, and especially easy because I had drains in for a few weeks after surgery.

Slip-on shoes are a must, too IMHO. Why bother bending over to tie anything?

What is most comfortable to wear after?

Thanks everyone, for all of the great advice. I agree that once I get into anything even resembling actual clothes that everyone will think I can do anything again. Hey, maybe one piece footie pj's like we wore when we were kids with the zipper up the front! : ) Just kidding. And you're right, one minute i'm thinking oh my, only one or two dreadful periods to go until surgery and no more peeing everytime i move, then the next minute I get pretty scared about the whole thought of it all. I just can't wait until this part of it is over. I think the waiting is going to drive me bonkers!

What is most comfortable to wear after?

I wore draw string crop pants that I sometimes work out in, and a lace trimmed big tee shirt, wore it to the hospital and home from, I have used that same outfit now a few times as it is comfy and looks somewhat like street clothes not bed clothes, but really I have spent almost 3 weeks in pajamas and night dress. The net panties the hospital has are great, so even if you do not use them, grab them for home. I am using mine under a pair of granny panties between my ice cold gel pack and my skin and under my granny panties. it makes a light layer of netting between your skin and the ice pack, works great.
