Should I be concerned?

I am 8 days post op LAVH. In the last couple of days I have been a lot more active and I am wondering if I am doing to much. The problem is that I am bleeding more than I have since the surgery. Usually when I go to the bathroom my pee is clear, now it has some blood in it. There is also more on my pantyliner, and when I wipe. I also had to take a laxative last night.

Has this happened to anyone else when you started to be more active?

Should I be concerned?

What color is the blood? Is it red, pink, brown?

My doctor told me that a little pink is normal... but if it turns bright red, to call. She also said that the pink will increase and be darker in color when I'm doing too much.

Should I be concerned?

its very normal to spot/bleed after surgery. i'd check with your dr but most say that its normal for quite a few weeks as long as you arent running a fever, in pain or changing pads every hour.

Should I be concerned?

I just went back and saw that you mentioned seeing blood in the urine. Do you have any pain or discomfort while voiding? That makes me wonder if there might be a UTI or bladder infection.

Should I be concerned?

Yes, they told me after surgery that my bladder was spasming because it was hard to get going. It has gotten better. I would have the same thing going to the bathroom while on my period. I think the color is more red than pink. I will call the Dr.

Should I be concerned?

I am 3 weeks post op and I had exactly the same experiences that you are describing. I did find that the more I did, the more I would spot and then I'd rest and it would go away. I think it should be a reminder to slow down. I find that I am comfortable and so I do too much, and then I need to recover sometimes days later (I start to feel more pressure/swelling and little pains --and I am fearful of causing adhesions that will permanently cause discomfort or worse).

I also had the exact urinary symptoms that you are experiencing and eventually had a mild (about 100 degree) temp ---it was difficult to detect because I was taking Motrin so when the Motrin wore off I realized this. The UTI tests only showed only a small amt of bacteria but my UTI symptoms were getting worse. They put me on Cipro and in one day my symptoms were releaved. It was the right thing for me --

Should I be concerned?

I spoke with the doctor and they said I should expect some bleeding for the next 4-6 wks. Only if I start to saturate pads within an hour should I be seen. I have stayed down all morning and it seems to be slowing down. I am sure it is just a result of over doing it.

I will definetly keep in mind the symptoms of UTI. I seem to be having more problems the other way. I am on my second dose of laxatives. The first two did not do anything. The Dr. said if nothing happens by this afternoon they will try something else. Thanks for your help
