not a question i have seen yet and concerned!

hello Sisters

I am one week post op and here is my question. I have noticed after surgery and I could finally eat I had a sore throat and some raw spots on roof of mouth. Figured it was from surgery and tubes and stuff, but now I am very aware that anything I eat well almost anything I eat breaks out my mouth or makes it hot and tingly? I also get sore throat, and feels kind of swollen kinda concerned now as I just had a salad with the same dressing i always use and my mouth is on fire and throat is swollen n sore.

Maybe thrush? You should call your dr and find out. Some meds could clear that up and stop your hurting.

I agree. I think thrush is fairly common after this surgery.

Re: not a question i have seen yet and concerned!

Hello
I know what your going through! I noticed mine the first meal they gave me in the hospital, I took a bite of toast and the roof of my mouth felt wired, like a allergic reaction, it did that with a lot of the foods I ate. I asked the doc and he said it might be from when they take the tub out they numb it with this stuff so it doesn't make your throat hurt so much and it could be from that. I'm a little over 1 week and mind is tons better, I hope you get some relief and it gets better!!!

Are you on hormones? I believe one of the side effects of some are yeast infections. Could possibly be thrush.

Re: not a question i have seen yet and concerned!

I had surgery the day before you. I also had that sore throat feeling and and the side of my tongue was sore the next day in the hospital. I couldn't see anything there when I looked so I never mentioned it. However, my first night home I woke up with the sore throat and really sore tongue and when I checked in the mirror I had a very distinct white patch and immediately thought it was thrush from the antibiotics I was on in the hospital.

I immediately took a probiotic,"pearls" and also drank a cup of kefir which also has probiotics in it. The next day I called the doctor and asked if it was thrush. He dismissed it and just said no. I continued taking the probiotics anyway and drinking the kefir and both the sore throat and the sore on my tongue cleared up over the next few days.

Re: not a question i have seen yet and concerned!

Ty for all the response to my questions, and I do see my doc tomorrow to remove staples. I looked around in there and I do not see any patches n there, but it is not a constant thing it only acts up when I eat things and not all things just certain things. I am not on any hormones as I will not be able to take any of those due to blood clots. So will be trudging along through menopause with the support of all you lovely ladies and God!

Re: not a question i have seen yet and concerned!

I had something so similar at that same time!

I thought thrush as well, but I went to the dr's and here's what happened:

They said that the digestive system cells have one of the fastest turn over rates of any cells in the body and after trauma they can kinda go crazy for a bit. I had this raw sensation in my throat and nose. The back of my mouth and throat burned and everything tasted..well.. like sucking a dandelion stem!

He said I'd just lost a lot of those cells (I had bare patches on my tongue - which made me think the 'not bare' patches were thrush! When in fact it was just the LACK of taste buds! LOL

They all grew back and all told it was only about 4 days of it so I hope it is the same thing for you!

XOXO!
