Bleeding after BM

I am still taking Colace on a regular basis, but both yesterday and tonight I had bright red bleeding after a bowel movement. I plan to call my doctor tomorrow, but am wondering if anyone else has experienced this. I don't feel any hemorrhoids on the outside, but it hurts in one place on the insde after going (sorry if TMI). Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Bleeding after BM

Hi. I too had a tvh with a bladder build up on January 12, 2010.

I currently have a temp of 99.7 and don't feel well. I have taken Colace one or two times a day everyday since my surgery. Today it felt like I was being ripped in two after a BM. I also bleed with BM's as well, but I was doing that before surgery. I don't have any noticeable hemmroids either.

Re: Bleeding after BM

I hope you feel better soon. Are you calling your doctor tomorrow or is yours like mine and said if it's over 100? For me that would be high because I normally run about 97.0-97.5. I will post after I talk to my doctor, but hoping it's just part of recovery. Just a little scarey.

Re: Bleeding after BM

I had the same experience yesterday. I take stool softeners and eat lots of prunes and things seem to be moving nicely. However, it seemed yesterday I needed to strain a little more than normal (and those muscles don't seem to be fully awake yet).

I don't know if the bright red blood was a result of the straining, or if I overdid things somewhere else. I have been reaching above my head for light-weight objects and just read another post that said that was a no-no.

I have not called the doctor. I have a post-op on Friday. All of my discharge info says not to worry unless you soak a pad in an hour. My bleeding was not that profuse and seems to have stopped. Needless to say, I'm proceeding more cautiosly today.

Re: Bleeding after BM

I checked with my doctor today. Since it's happening only after a bowel movement, they aren't concerned. They suggested Preparation H or Hydrocortisone Cream (preferably Preparation H) for 2 days and then let them know if I'm still having problems. Since the Colace bottle says 1-3, I think I'll take 3 tonight and see if that helps. I have a tendency to be on the constipated side a little any way so we'll see. Hope everyone else is doing well.

Re: Bleeding after BM

I am 5 days post op from a RAVH - kept overies not cervix. I am taking colace 2x's a day as directed by my doctor. My first BM was a piece of cake- no pain or anything. Now I feel like I am being torn in two every morning. It brings tears to my eyes. The pain usually starts an hour or so before I actually have to go and then I start bleeding for about an hour after. Is this normal? I have a post op appt. today but it is nice to hear from those who have gone through it.

Re: Bleeding after BM

happyFriday,
That doesn't sound normal to bleed that long. If it were me, I'd definitely be calling my doctor.
