Excessive Sweating

Right now, before losing all my hormones, I will sweat thru shirts, in dead winter. I've gotten the prescription deodorant(which doesn't work) and I've even inquired about getting Botox in my arm pits, which has proven to reduce the sweating.

Is this going to be 100% worse after my surgery in January when they remove everything??

Re: Excessive Sweating

I think each person is probably different. I will say though that my hot flashes worsened after my surgery. I was already in menopause and although I had hot flashes, mainly at night, they weren't too bad. Now, however, they are much worse without my ovaries. My doctor started me on Evamist after my hysterectomy but it hasn't really hasn't helped much. I would go ahead and talk to the doctor about it before your surgery and have a plan in place. Good luck.

Re: Excessive Sweating

Do you drink a lot of caffeinated beverages? I ask because years ago, I used to drink way too much coffee, and I had this problem. It was embarassing... I would sweat through the underarms of anything I wore. No antiperspirant on earth could stop it, although I had very limited success (VERY limited) with Mitchum, the old fashioned liquid roll on with the cloth roll tip. It really didn't work that well, though.

Once I quit drinking coffee, it stopped altogether - no more stains! I drink just green tea now, which has some caffeine but not nearly the amount in coffee, and still have no problem.

-Linda
