Adeno, Endo, Fibroids...Bloat?

Hi! I've been back and forth on whether or not to go through with it...but ultimately, I've decided that keeping a "problem" just to tell myself I still have all my parts, isn't worth the pain. SO, I'm waiting on the doc to call me back with a time on 11/15 to go through with a LSH.

I've only been on the site for a short time, and a reg member for only a few days...and ALREADY have more confidence in my symptoms...let me explain - Ya know, the "is it just me", "all in my head", "I'm being a wimp" questions we only speak in our heads. They have ALL been answered on this site!!! Amazed and Emotional at the relief I feel from knowing that others have these same symptoms.

Alright, now one more symptom - a little embarrassing - I've seen the swelly belly thread and stuff in Post-Op. But what I'm wondering is if Pre-Op sisters have this issue too.
Ok, here we go :-/ I have painful bloat like feelings, even when I'm not bleeding. I've monitored what I eat, wondering if it was my intestines not agreeing. But it seems to come and go for no rhyme or reason. The bloat is in the low belly and often my belly swells to the size of early pregnancy. (I should clarify, its not actually gassy - just that type of bloating ) It makes everything hard to do...I can't sit comfortably. I can't walk with out pain. Hell, I can't think about anything else going on around me bc all I feel is bloat!

Please, someone tell me I'm not the only one????

I've heard that fibroids and other uterine problems can cause problems with gas and I know I have times when I'm pretty gassy and no real cause, but not like that kind of bloating, but that doesn't mean it doesn't happen.

BUT - (not to alarm you or anything) I do have a friend that is gluten intolerant (Celiac disease) and she bloats like this. It causes her a lot of discomfort and pain. Plus she has 3 or 4 sizes of clothes in her closet to accommodate the bloated belly. Just thought I would mention it - food for thought.

Ladies with either adenomyosis, endometriosis, or fibroids can experience bloating. Bloating is also an issue for those with cysts, ovarian cancer, gastrointestinal issues, PMS, food intolerances, IBS, bladder issues, on and on and on!

Have you talked to your doctor about the situation? I was sent to a gastroenterologist for a complete work up that included a physical exam, CT scans, and a colonoscopy to make sure the issue was nothing serious. For me, it was IBS, endometriosis, and adhesions.

I have the same feeling....almost heaviness in your lower belly and there are certain days when my pants that are loose normally are super tight around the waist. I'm constantly uncomfortable on those days and feel like there is SO MUCH pressure.

I have had work ups for Celiacs, IBS, and a colonoscopy....all have ruled out a GI issue. My doctor and I are quite certain that my endometriosis is back and worse then it was before my last laparoscopy. I have an ultrasound next week to find out what else is going on and make my final plans for surgery....and I'm hoping that this feeling will go away!

I am 44 years old mother of 2 young men (20 & 23) and happily married for 25 years next year. I am scheduled for a hysterecomy via the Da Vinci method this Friday 10-28-11. I had laprascopic surgery in the past (21 years ago) for D & C, endometriosis. I have been suffering with large fibroids (9 & 6 cm on CT) cysts on my right ovary, as well as endometriosis, very heavy menstrations for over a year. CT in April showed my uterus is twice the size of normal and Yes, I have the bloating, gas and pelvic pains like so many other women. Family doctor did not recognize the symptoms, excessive gas, consipation, pelvic pains, tiredness and bloating - all the common signs - I now know from my new Gyn doctor. Reading all the posts pre-op and glad I am having Devinci robotic surgery. The excessive gas pains from surgery are from what the surgeon pumps into adominal cavity during operation. I read today that this was avoided by one lucky lady as her OB?GYN doctor irrigated her abdominal cavity with saline before he closed her up. It worked like a charm. She had absolutely none of the gas pains that other woman talk about. I am going to suggest this to my dr on Friday b4 surgery. Not sure if i want cervix removed as posts suggest keeping this for support. I am worried about what difference it will make to intercourse as doctor did not know? Any advice, i do not have adnormal paps so i could keep it? really need advice, surgery this Friday!!!!

Ladybird1 - My doctor recommends removing the cervix if you have endometriosis. He said he has removed many the cervix from many women who kept it while having endometriosis and it resulted in continued pain after their hysterectomy.

That's my doctor's opinion and he is one of the endometriosis specialists listed on this site as recommended by other HysterSisters and he has received many awards for his work....so I'm going with his recommendation and having my cervix removed.

Earlybird - EXACTLY! Like a heaviness in the low belly. Swollen and uncomfortable like bloat but not really gassy.

Weiser - yes, I've spoken to my doctor about it. And with my previous doc from a few years back when we lived in Ga. Both thought it might be bc I'm near or ending my period and that bloat will make you gassy. Basically, I just think they don't "get it" (they're men) so they just give a CYA answer.
Celiac and Crohn's are high on my radar since my husband was diagnosed 5 years ago. I've been on a gluten free diet and never expierenced a full time relief. My food intake seems to have no effect on when it happens. Even with what I drink...like carbonation or even different types of wine. Yet, nothing really changes much.

Good info on the abdominal irrigation LadyBird - I'll have to ask my doc about that.

This information has been great its such a good feeling knowing iam not the only one- i look and feel 6 months pregnant some days-- however i do feel sometimes it may be down to whot i eating my op is at the end of november - hope it settles down afterwards!!didnt realise fibroids could cause so much hassle-learned so much from finding this support link -- always look forward to reading all your comments - - thanks again
