Day 8 and worrying about failed repair

How do you keep from freaking out? I had bad vaginal and bladder prolapse.

My surgery on 14th was total laparoscopic hysterectomy with anterior and posterior repairs in addition to a perineum repair. Surgery went well.

I've had a bad cough since surgery. I went into surgery with a cough. I always have a cough afterwards (have had other surgeries before). I have crappy lungs.

Recovery was going well until Wednesday night when the bladder spasms started. The swelling had gone down considerably, especially in the perineum area. Thursday night I leaked urine when coughing. *whimper* Today, 8 days post-op, I noticed with the lessened swelling that things were low riding vaginally again. There is still a ton of swelling so I can't be certain. Still having bladder spasms.

I am not in extra pain. I am only spotting a tad. Not enough to worry about. That started today. No fever. A tad pressure but usually with spasms. oh I split 2 incisions open coughing so some force involved.

So is there a way to self verify that's what it is before freaking out? It is all still inside TG!

Re: Day 8 and worrying about failed repair

Perhaps you need to get a cough syrup or cough candy to relieve your coughing problem. You might want to call the surgeon about the split incisions (be sure to inform him/her about the 'cough') There's probably no problem unless there's bleeding involved.
The only side effect is probably having a 'thicker' scar.

Be sure to drink a lot of liquid and cut down your intake of caffeine,

Already called about incisions. They aren't worried. Cleaning and watching for infection. They are the small incisions that split thank goodness because the glue didn't hold.

Treating cough since surgery more or less. on Rx cough meds, not helping nothing really helps it. It is so unproductive and annoying as any cough when I get them usually is. It sucks to have my lungs.

Re: Day 8 and worrying about failed repair

I had the same repairs and surgery 12/13 so almost 6 weeks out. I just had to splint for a BM I think the likely hood of our repairs sticking is less than 60 %. Sad. Feel better.
