Pre-op swelly belly and bloating
My surgery is scheduled for 07/15/03. I've been feeling like my tummy is really swollen and bloated. When I had my last vaginal sonogram done the tech couldn't believe that I hadn't just had a baby. My uterus was really enlarged. I wondered if that could be cauing the swelling/bloated feeling. Have any of you had any experience like this. Thanks!

Pre-op swelly belly and bloating
I get really, really bloated and uncomfortable right before and during my period. Plus, my enlarged uterus impacts my intestines and cause a bit of a back up in there. Making me feel even more icky. Nothing gets back to "normal" when the period is over, but it improves a little.
I've had two myomectomies in the past (TAV scheduled for July 2) - I know from experience that the fibroids are the cause of my bloating, etc.
You are not alone!
Hope this helps,
Kathi

Pre-op swelly belly and bloating
Thanks Kathi! I've had a period for going on 4 months straight. I wondered if that couldn't be the cause of the bloated feeling.

Pre-op swelly belly and bloating
Hi
I also had severe swelling due to an enlarged uterus and big fibroids. Mine was pretty much constant not just during the PMS time. I had been almost continually bleeding for about a year and a half so I guess I was in constant PMS!!
After surgery I am still bloated and have a swelly belly, but it varies with my activity level. The more I do, the more swollen I become. I have to rest in between doing activities so I don't look so pregnant. I thought the swelly belly would be gone after surgery, but I soon learned differently. I'm very grateful though, that the pain is gone as well as the bleeding.
So, in answer to your question, yes, I for one have experienced it.
Sending you a big
Patty

Me Too!!!
Hello my SIW. I too have been bleeding over 4 mo. straight ( almost 6 now) And am extremely bloated! My doc said that all the meds that they were using to stop the bleeding to begin with caused some of this bloat, but the rest is my uterus and water weight. I have been put on codine for this last week before surgery due to the pain, but unfortunately I have bloated more. Good Luck to you!!

Pre-op swelly belly and bloating
I had an enlarged uterus also and was constantly swollen. During the weeks before my period (PMS) I would be even more swollen. When my period finally came, the swelling actually went down. Than when the PMS would hit again, the swelling would increase.
Best wishes on your upcoming surgery! Please let us know how you're doing. I'm sending s

me too
I have been bloated for over two weeks now and even though my period just ended, I am still feeling that way. I still have that period achiness, too. My TAH is scheduled for 7-16 and I sure hope I'm not feeling like this until then.

Pre-op swelly belly and bloating
So sorry to hear that you are feeling so I have found that to use stretchable pants really helps me. I stopped wearing my "tight jeans" several years ago for this very reason.
I'm very much looking forward to this all being resolved as I am a

always feeling bloated
The bloating feeling doesn't seem to go away, even after my period. I seem to have three or four days when I feel comfortable in clothes...other than that I feel as if I waddle around. It seems to me that in the am when I wake up I feel OK, but by the end of the day I feel as if I am "hanging low". My hyst is scheduled for June 23rd and I am looking forward to hopefully not feeling this way anymore. I know the swelly belly will be somewhat worse before it gets better, but a step in the right direction. Nerves, nerves, nerves...but can't wait to be on the road to recovery. Hugs to all...

Pre-op swelly belly and bloating
hi
I too have been living with the bloated and swelly belly for the past year because of fibroids and enlarged uterus. It's been either PMS or period pretty much the whole time. My hyst is this Wed and hope it will be better. Very anxious and nervous but I'm looking forward to life afterwards.....Hugs
